Rancho Cucamonga Welcomes New Police Chief. 
 
The Police Department welcomes Captain Brad Bonnet as the newly assigned Chief of Police/Station Captain for Rancho Cucamonga. With more than two decades of dedicated service to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Captain Bonnet brings extensive law enforcement experience, strong leadership, and a longstanding connection to the Rancho Cucamonga community.

Captain Bonnet began his career with the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department as a Sheriff's Trainee in January 2005, later earning the rank of Deputy Sheriff in June of that same year and serving at the West Valley Detention Center. In May 2006, he was assigned to the Rancho Cucamonga Station, where he began building strong relationships within the community he now returns to lead.

In 2012, Captain Bonnet was promoted to Detective/Corporal and assigned to the Specialized Enforcement Division, where he expanded his investigative and tactical expertise. In 2015, he transferred to the Gangs/Narcotics Division and was later promoted to Sergeant. During this tenure as Sergeant, Captain Bonnet served at the West Valley Detention Center, the Rancho Cucamonga Station, and the Internal Affairs Division.

Captain Bonnet was promoted to Lieutenant in 2021, taking on assignments with the Gangs/Narcotics Division and the Internal Affairs Division. His broad operational experience and commitment to professional excellence led him to his promotion to Captain in 2025, most recently serving within the Professional Standards Division.

Captain Bonnet returns to the Rancho Cucamonga Station as its newly assigned Chief of Police/Station Captain, bringing with him more than 20 years of service and a deep commitment to the community.
