Short-term rental is allowed in Rancho Cucamonga when the resident obtains a permit and meets the operating requirements. The purpose of the permit and operating rules are to minimize impacts for neighboring residents, whether it be from noise, parking, or other nuisance activity. The location must be the permanent, regular residence of the host.

What is a Short-Term Rental?

In Rancho Cucamonga, a Short-Term Rental is when a resident rents out a room, a portion of their home or authorized guest house for a period of less than 30 days for payment or other compensation.

Short-Term Rental of a room, whole house, or authorized guest house for a period of less than 30-days is permitted in Rancho Cucamonga subject to meeting the operating requirements of Rancho Cucamonga Municipal Code (RCMC) Section 8.34. These requirements include obtaining a Business License, a Transient Occupancy Tax Certificate and a Short-Term Rental Permit. The application and process for the permit includes an inspection of the property by City staff.

The application fee for the Short-Term Rental (STR) Permit is a non-refundable amount of $184.00. Please review all of the requirements and limitations of hosting short-term rental to ensure all requirements can be met and maintained.

Once we received and review the application we will email you with the application status. If corrections are required, you will be notified by email. If no corrections are necessary, then a request to schedule and on-site inspection will be sent by email.
The Short-Term Vacation Rental Permit will be issued after the review indicates that the application has been completed, all required documents have been uploaded and the on-site inspection passes is when the STVR Permit pay be issued.
Completing the STR Permit application packet will ensure that host has all the information needed to make the informed decision on obtaining a permit and has prepared all documents needed to complete the on-line application. for tenants, this application packet MUST include an authorization form from the property owner.
The Safety Inspection Checklist is provided as informational purposes only to prepare the host for the on-site inspection with City Staff.
The Business License Tax Certificate number will also become your Short-Term Rental Permit number in the format STR-012345.
