2026 General Election
The City of Rancho Cucamonga is scheduled to conduct a General Municipal Election on November 3, 2026. The election will be for the two (2) Council Member seats voted by-district (Districts 2 & 3) and for the position of Mayor (elected at large). The City of Rancho Cucamonga consolidates general municipal elections in November of even-numbered years to elect members to serve on the City Council, City Clerk and City Treasurer. The City contracts with the San Bernardino County Registrar of Voters to conduct such elections. Individuals interested in pursuing candidacy may obtain information and nomination papers by appointment with Ashton R. Arocho, MMC, City Clerk Services Director, at (909) 774-2005.
Candidate Filing Period (November 3, 2026 Municipal Election)
The nomination window for prospective candidates is as follows:
• Opens: Tuesday, July 13, 2026, when nomination papers become available
• Closes: Friday, August 7, 2026, at 4:30 p.m.
Extended Deadline: If a current officeholder fails to file by August 7, 2026, the period is extended through Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at 4:30 p.m.
During this period, prospective candidates should file their Declaration of Candidacy and nomination paperwork. For appointment of nomination materials, deadlines, and filing forms, please contact Ashton R. Arocho, MMC, City Clerk Services Director, at (909) 774-2005 to book your appointment.
Council Districts
As of 2016, the City is divided into four (4) districts and only the voters in a district decide the City Council Member who will represent that district. The Mayor, City Clerk, and City Treasurer are elected at large. Each office serves a four-year term and there are no term limits.
