North Etiwanda Preserve Closure Due to Tropical Cyclone Hilary

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch due to forecasted widespread rainstorms caused by Tropical Cyclone Hilary throughout the Inland Empire beginning Sunday morning, August 20, 2023, and into Monday, August 21, 2023. Due to the increased precipitation levels and concern for public safety, the Rancho Cucamonga Fire Protection District and the San Bernardino County Special Districts have ordered a closure of the North Etiwanda Preserve beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 19, 2023.

The closure begins at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, August 19, 2023, and will be enforced until 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 22, 2023. A violation of the closure order is punishable by a fine of $1,000.

The high precipitation levels could cause ponding on roadways and low-lying areas, creating dangerous hiking conditions. The closure is necessary for public safety and to prevent public safety resources from responding to rescues within the North Etiwanda Preserve.
