It's National Fire Prevention Week and although we aren't able to host our annual Open House event due to large gathering restrictions, we still have lots of great videos and resources for you to enjoy with your family and friends! During Fire Prevention Week, Rancho Cucamonga Fire District takes additional time to inform our community about how to prevent fires. Did you know cooking fires are the #1 cause of home fires and home injuries? This year's theme is "Serve Up Fire Safety in the Kitchen" so here's what we've cooked up for you this week:
Take our 5-question fire safety quiz and download a FREE digital cookbook with recipes and safety tips provided by RCFD personnel.
Check out these 5 tips from our firefighters about kitchen safety:
Do you have a fire extinguisher readily available in your home? They can help control a small fire, especially in the kitchen, by following this easy-to-remember acronym "P.A.S.S"-
𝐏 - Pull the pin
𝐀 - Aim the nozzle towards the base of the fire
𝐒 - Squeeze handle
𝐒 - Sweep back and forth
If the fire is larger than the size of a trash can, call 9-1-1. Don't forget to service your fire extinguisher at least every 6 years.
We invite you to attend our Virtual Fire Station Tour to learn a little more about what a typical day looks like for our firefighters, in between emergency calls.
