Garage Fire Ignites Vehicles and Nearby Brush

Shortly after 3 p.m., RCFD units responded to a reported garage fire in the 5400 block of Ranch Gate Rd. The front of the 2-story home was fully involved with fire when firefighters arrived on scene and they were met by one of the residents who had suffered minor injuries. While paramedics treated the patient, firefighters attacked the fire to get it under control. The fire had extended into two vehicles parked in the driveway, which also resulted in a fuel leak from one of the cars. While firefighters were knocking down the flames, some embers ignited a small fire in the brush across the street from the home. With help from a local US Forest Service crew, the vegetation fire was quickly put out. More than 2 dozen firefighters, including an Upland Fire engine, battled the afternoon blaze. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
