Businesses Receive Prestigious Recognition for Disaster Preparedness Efforts

On September 21, 2016, the Rancho Cucamonga City Council presented four local businesses with the prestigious ReadyRC designation for their disaster preparation efforts.  The designation was awarded to Prestige Mold Inc, Precision Aerospace, Forest City and Big Lots for demonstrating extraordinary commitment to building their organizations’ disaster resiliency and economic recovery following a disaster.

Members from each of the businesses have successfully completed the Business Emergency Response Training (BERT) program.  This accomplishment represents many hours of training over the course of 12 months, including topics such as employee preparedness, disaster plans and exercises as well as fire safety and crime awareness.    In addition to the training, these businesses are maintaining a business specific Emergency Operations/ Business Continuity Plan; executing an annual disaster exercise to test the Plan; and promoting individual preparedness for their employees.

“It’s important for the Fire District to recognize those that go above and beyond to invest in their business and employees to build greater disaster resiliency,” said Breanna Medina, Emergency Management Coordinator.  “The ReadyRC designation is something the business and employees can be proud of.”  The Fire District values the business community’s partnership in preserving economic vitality of our region and the ReadyRC recognition applauds their efforts in preparing for disaster and strengthening our community’s economic health.

“Promoting community resiliency contributes to an overall greater quality of life for our residents and businesses that live, work and play in Rancho Cucamonga,” said Fire Chief Mike Costello.
