RC Hosts 1st Countywide Disaster Volunteer Exercise

There’s an earthquake predicted to strike Rancho Cucamonga this Saturday, and we’re looking for volunteers to respond.  Are you a CERT trained citizen ready to use or refresh your skills?  Then join us as the City of Rancho Cucamonga hosts the FIRST countywide Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Functional Exercise on Saturday, October 4th from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Mountain View Park!
Trained disaster volunteers will take part in an earthquake-based scenario, complete with dozens of moulaged actors playing injured victims, to test their skills learned in the basic CERT course.  The full-scale exercise will provide opportunities for participants to refresh their knowledge in triage, medical operations, fire suppression, light search and rescue, Incident Command System (ICS), disaster psychology and communications.
The City of Rancho Cucamonga periodically offers CERT training free to residents – a valuable opportunity for residents to prepare themselves and their family before disaster strikes.  Since the program began, more than 2,500 citizens have taken the 20-hour basic course, increasing our community’s disaster resiliency.  Together, we are ReadyRC!
