Lewis Family Playhouse Proudly Unveils Exciting 2013-2014 Season Line-up!
Ticket sales begin Thursday, June 6, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. via the Lewis Family Playhouse website,, via phone order at (909) 477-2752 or at the Lewis Family Playhouse Box Office, located at the Victoria Gardens Cultural Center at 12505 Cultural Center Drive in Rancho Cucamonga. Subscription tickets (consisting of 5 or more shows) offer a 15% discount off the single ticket price and are not available online but can be purchased through the Box Office or by mail-in order.

Five-time, Grammy-award winning Country music megastar, Wynonna Judd, kicks off our 8th season in a special performance, Wynonna & the Big Noise on September 22, 2013. Don’t miss her classic hits including “She Is His Only Need,” “I Saw the Light,” “No One Else on Earth,” “Girls With Guitars,” and countless others performed live and in concert.

Broadcasting icon and NBC-4’s weathercaster, Fritz Coleman returns to the Lewis Family Playhouse for a night of laughs in An Evening with Fritz Coleman on October 5, 2013. This hilarious evening is best described as a “Baby Boomer Support Group.” Don’t miss spot-on observations about the most common human experience… the passage of time.

Join us for a magnificent tribute to the sensational music of Count Basie in Count Basie Tribute With Yve Evans and the All Star Big Band on October 6, 2013. From Basie’s haunting “April in Paris” to the high-energy “One O’Clock Jump,” singer Yve Evans and the All Star Big Band will transport audiences back to The Sands Hotel with Basie and his orchestra.

Broadway, television star and Academy Award nominee John Astin stars in An Evening With John Astin: Gomez, Poe and The Usual Suspects on October 11, 2013. This powerful production presents an eclectic evening of excerpts from well-known works by Edgar Allan Poe, F. Scott Fitzgerald, William Shakespeare, Kurt Weill, Thomas Wolfe, E.E. Cummings, Ezra Pound and others combined with anecdotes and film clips from the popular TV series “The Addams Family.” The high-energy dance-show phenomenon Bellydance Superstars make their Lewis Family Playhouse debut in Bellydance Superstars DanZara on October 12, 2013. Complete with beautiful costuming and adornments, the music excites and inspires, creating adventurous fusions of Eastern styles with Western dance.

MainStreet Theatre Company presents a World Premiere, Aesop in Rancho Cucamonga, the first of three new productions which opens October 26, 2013 and runs through November 10, 2013. Award-winning Los Angeles Playwright Luis Alfaro sets his brand new adaptation of “Aesop’s Fables” right here in Southern California. Using the history of the area as a starting point, he makes these old stories relevant for a whole new generation of children.

Returning for a special one-night-only performance, a cappella kings and dear friends of the Playhouse, Rockapella, take the stage in Rockapella Motown & More on November 16, 2013. Featuring unique versions of hit songs from The Jackson 5, Stevie Wonder, The Temptations and many more, audiences will be wistfully singing Motown classics all night long.

NBC’s “The Voice” finalist, Chris Mann makes his Lewis Family Playhouse debut in Chris Mann In Concert on November 23, 2013. Audiences will be blown away by his stunning tenor vocals as Chris performs an exciting and eclectic blend of songs, ranging from “Ave Maria” to Damien Rice’s “The Blower’s Daughter” and Willie Nelson’s “Always On My Mind” to Lady Antebellum’s “Need You Now.”

In this stage version of Rancho Cucamonga Community Theatre’s production of A Christmas Carol, Charles Dickens himself guides us through this classical story full of haunting apparitions, delightful street urchins, long-suffering Bob Cratchit, Tiny Tim, and the humbugging Ebenezer Scrooge himself. Production runs December 7-15, 2013.

Discover the magic of the holiday season with Inland Pacific Ballet’s The Nutcracker on December 21-22, 2013. A giant Christmas tree, toy soldiers, and life-sized dancing dolls fill the stage, as a fantastic dream with battling mice, dancing snowflakes, waltzing flowers, and the delightful Sugar Plum Fairy stir the imagination. This is family entertainment at its best.

OH WHAT A NIGHT! A Musical Tribute to Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons on January 11, 2014 features the original hits that continue to resonate with audiences of all ages while thrilling audiences with nostalgic choreography. With classics hits like “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Walk Like A Man,” “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You,” and “Sherry,” this exhilarating musical revue is a must see.

Legendary duo and longtime friends, Jack Benny and George Burns, team up for a laugh out loud adventure in Heavenly Laughter on January 12, 2014. Clarence, Angel 3rd Class from the Pearly Gates Entertainment Department, returns to Earth to try and earn First Class Wings. His current task is to escort two of the entertainment world’s biggest pranksters – Jack Benny and George Burns. If successful, all three return to “make the world laugh again.”

Men Are From Mars – Women Are From Venus Live! is a hilarious new show based on the best-selling book from acclaimed author, John Gray. Shining new light on what you think you know about yourself and your relationship, this hysterical show has been entertaining thousands. Call the babysitter, grab your better half or bring your friends on January 18, 2014 for this hysterical performance.

MainStreet Theatre Company presents The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley, live on stage, February 1 – 16, 2014. Based on the beloved children’s book by Jeff Brown, this fun musical follows Stanley’s adventures around the world after a bulletin board above his bed falls right on top of him causing him to become flat. Stanley is stamped, posted and cancelled from Hollywood to France to Honolulu and beyond, until he finally finds his way back home and becomes a three-dimensional boy once more.

The talented feats of Rhythmic Circus make their Lewis Family Playhouse debut in Rhythmic Circus – Feet Don’t Fail Me Now on February 21, 2014. Infusing their unpredictable blend of hard-hitting tap, high-spirited humor, and finger-snapping tunes, Rhythmic Circus satisfies their “rhythmic appetite” on everything from sand to folding chairs.

Rancho Cucamonga Community Theatre presents Sing-A-Long Grease on February 22, 2014. Now is your chance to don those pink jackets, grease up those quaffs, and let your inhibitions go for an evening where you are the stars. Sit back and watch Danny, Sandy and the gang, while singing and dancing along to the lyrics on the screen. Grease is the word!

Jim Henson’s popular PBS Kids TV show, “Sid, the Science Kid,” comes to life in this incredible live stage experience, Sid The Science Kid Live! on March 15, 2014. Sid The Science Kid Live! will have the whole family cheering, exploring and dancing, and excited to figure out more about the great unknown together.

Broadway at the Gardens presents Jesus Christ Superstar, the ground-breaking theatrical masterpiece by the legendary writing team of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber which runs March 28 – April 6, 2014. Jesus Christ Superstar will leave audiences captivated by its power.

A World Premiere from Inland Pacific Ballet—Beauty and the Beast, on April 12–13, 2014, is the newest spectacular production in Inland Pacific Ballet’s children’s series featuring original ballets adapted from adventure filled stories. With stunning costumes and amazing theatrical effects, Beauty and the Beast is a visual feast that will delight audiences of all ages.

Enriching the mariachi forum as America’s first all-female mariachi ensemble, Mariachi Reyna De Los Angeles, performs live on April 19, 2014. This talented group of women brings sensitivity, beauty, warmth, and an attractive perspective to the realm of Mexico’s musical heritage.

MainStreet Theatre Company presents the West Coast premiere of Roald Dahl’s The Magic Finger, on stage May 3– 18, 2014. Similar to Matilda, it is a story about a girl who has special powers and what happens when she uses them. When Lucy gets angry, her magic finger takes over and she really cannot control it. This time, her magic finger creates a few surprises for her duck-hunting neighbors. Don’t miss David Wood’s brand new adaptation that captures all of Roald Dahl’s quirky humor while making you wonder what it is like to see the world from another point of view.

Our season closes May 31, 2014 with legendary performer, Ben Vereen in Steppin’ Out with Ben Vereen. This Tony Award-winning actor and singer will showcase his immense repertoire under the proscenium and will surely win his way into your hearts with his prodigiously captivating performance.

In addition to the many public performances, the Lewis Family Playhouse offers special school group performances of MainStreet Theatre Company productions for teachers and students in elementary and middle school. An intimate, 536-seat venue, the Lewis Family Playhouse is the crown jewel of the three-acre, 89,000-square-foot Victoria Gardens Cultural Center. The complex at 12505 Cultural Center Drive is conveniently located off the I-15 at Foothill Boulevard, as a major anchor of Victoria Gardens. The Box Office is open Monday through Friday from noon to 6:00 p.m., and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Parking is theatre-adjacent and free.
