Celebrate May as Mental Health Awareness Month

As many as one in five Americans are affected by mental health conditions.  Unfortunately, because of the stigma associated with mental illness, many people do not seek treatment for themselves or their loved ones.  Nearly 60% of adults with a mental illness didn’t receive mental health services in the previous year.

Join Healthy RC and communities nationwide to celebrate National Mental Health Awareness Month in May!  Healthy RC partners with organizations and schools to help promote awareness of mental health, reduce the stigma associated with it, and promote overall health and wellness for individuals and the community.

You and your loved ones are invited to a free community conversation on suicide prevention. Learn how to recognize and address early warning signs and individual risk factors that could help save a life. Learn safe strategies on what to do during a suicidal crisis and how to seek treatment for you and your loved ones.

  • Date: Tuesday, May 22

There are many ways you can get involved with promoting mental health awareness. Over the last several months, Healthy RC, the Healthy RC Youth Leaders, Community Champions, and our community partners have collaborated to dispel the stigma associated with mental health by organizing various mental health symposiums for the community.

Join us in our initiative to de-stigmatize mental health during May’s mental health awareness month!

If you are interested in volunteering for Healthy RC’s mental health initiative consider attending a Mental Health Subcommittee meeting held on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at City Hall, City Manager’s Office. Contact 909-774-2044 for more details.
