The forest area of Cucamonga Canyon, which includes "Sapphire Falls", remains closed until April 2019.
In August of 2013, the San Bernardino National Forest closed Cucamonga Canyon to all public use as of 12 a.m. August 23, 2013. After evaluating the conditions in the area, Forest officials determined a full closure of the canyon was necessary due to severe drought. The following April, a new Forest Order opened the trail only from Big Tree Road to the stream crossing.
A recently signed U.S.F.S. Forest Order will keep the forest area off the trail, including "Sapphire Falls," CLOSED through April 2019. Visit the USFS San Bernardino National website for more information about the closure order.
