At approximately 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 28, 2018, Rancho Cucamonga firefighters responded to a reported structure fire in the 10300 block of Base Line Rd. in Rancho Cucamonga.
ME172 from the San Bernardino Rd. Fire Station was the first on scene and found a mobile home fully involved with fire and reports of a victim trapped inside. Due to high winds putting nearby homes at risk of the flames, a 2nd alarm response was requested. Crews from San Bernardino County Fire in Upland as well as Ontario Fire also responded to the incident.
Firefighters’ primary objective was to locate and rescue the victim, then proceed with knocking the fire down. Crews found the victim unresponsive and rescued them from the burning home. The victim was treated on scene and during transport to a local hospital.
Crews had the fire under control in approximately 10 minutes, but remained on scene to ensure full extinguishment and no smoldering hotspots. In total three Truck Companies, eight Engine Companies, two Battalion Chiefs, and an Investigator responded to the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation and no other injuries were reported.
