- 16 off road pieces of equipment (tractors, back hoes, loaders, etc)
- 52 trailers
- 76 pieces of utility equipment (utility vehicles, forklifts, rollers, chippers, spray rigs, etc.)
- Plus hundreds of small pieces of equipment (back pack blowers, push mowers, weed trimmers, chain saws etc.)
The City of Rancho Cucamonga is committed to purchasing the most environmentally friendly/efficient replacement vehicles and equipment whenever it is practical, reducing emissions as well as our carbon footprint. The City currently has six street sweepers, three dump trucks as well as one passenger vehicle that are powered by CNG (compressed natural gas). The CNG fueling facility was completed in 2009 and has the capabilities to slow fill twenty CNG powered vehicles overnight and also includes a fast fill dispenser. Construction for the facility was partially funded by a $187,000 grant through the South Coast Air Quality Management District’s Mobile Source Air Pollution Reduction Review Committee. The twelve diesel fueled heavy trucks the City still operates have had their existing muffler replaced with a sophisticated emission control device that removes particulate matter, nitrogen oxides and other pollutants from the exhaust stream. The City also operates twenty-nine hybrid vehicles consisting of a Toyota Prius, Ford Escapes and Saturn Vues and is currently pursuing plug-in hybrids and electric powered vehicles as they become available this year and in the future.
