The Rancho Cucamonga Gang Unit officers are experienced in the street level enforcement of gang activity. They participate in Parole "sweeps" and compliance checks along with other members of the Rancho Cucamonga Specialized Investigations Units, State Parole Officers, and members of other state and local law enforcement agencies. Many felons who are on active parole also have gang affiliations.
The Gang Unit actively participates in the "San Bernardino Movement Against Street Hoodlums" or S.M.A.S.H. SMASH is a collaboration of local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies dedicated to the suppression of gang related criminal activity. SMASH identifies street gangs and its members, tracks criminal gang activity, and prosecutes or assists in the prosecution of gang related crimes.
Our Gang Unit takes actions to prevent and suppress gang related activity and crimes. They gather intelligence through gang members, informants, members of the community, through investigation of crimes, regular patrol and sweep events, and through anonymous tips.
They also facilitate registration compliance for court ordered Gang Registrants. If you are a gang registrant who needs to complete court ordered gang registration with the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department see our
Gang Registrant page.
