Apartment Pool/SpaCourage Honor Service Your apartment community is enhanced with a swimming pool for community enjoyment. Keep in mind this also presents a danger for children. Anytime you’re in the pool area, always make sure the entry gate(s) remain(s) closed so that small children cannot wander in or out. Property management requires that an adult accompany children in the pool area and always keep an eye on them.
Active supervision is necessary to prevent children from falling victim to drowning. Parents often believe they will hear their child if they are in trouble in the water, thinking they will splash or scream or yell for help. Often, none of that happens – drowning is a silent tragedy. Reading a magazine, chatting on the phone or conversing with a neighbor, does not constitute active supervision.
Familiarize yourself with the lifesaving equipment mounted near the pool, and know where it is located and how to retrieve it. Take a phone with you to the pool in case you need to dial 911 in an emergency. Take the time to learn CPR, not only for drowning related emergencies, but for your family’s overall safety. For information about CPR classes in our community, contact the City of Rancho Cucamonga’s Community Services Department at (909) 477-2765.
