Meet The StaffAnimal Care & ServicesBuilding a community in which every adoptable pet finds a home. Front Office The first people you will meet at the Animal Center are the Front Office staff. This group consists of 3 full time Office Specialists who ensure that every customer entering the Animal Center feels welcome and is serviced to the best of our ability. They provide valuable services to every person they encounter, and play a part in every interaction between the public and the Animal Center. They are a great resource for our community as they are very knowledgeable and helpful. Pictured from left to right - Amy, Brenda, & Dana | Animal Care Division The Animal Caretaker division is comprised of 6 Animal Caretakers and 2 Animal Care Attendants. They are responsible for the care and attention of the Center pets. Their duties include feeding, cleaning, and enrichment of all animals that stay at the Animal Center. The Caretakers also perform the adoption counseling for the Animal Center where anyone that is interested in adoption can speak with one of our knowledgeable Caretakers and decide on the best match for them. Pictured from left to right - Illany, Christina, Elsa, Sara, Jodie, Mathew, Sebastian, Adam | Veterinary Services The Veterinary Services Division consists of seven dedicated medical providers (1 veterinarian, 3 registered veterinary technicians, and 3 veterinary assistants), whose main goal is to maintain the health of all the homeless animals that come through the Animal Center. From the smallest mouse to the largest dog (and the occasional goat or pig), all animals are given preventative care as well as treatment for injuries and acute illnesses. The Vet Services Division operates an in-house surgical center where the Animal Center’s animals are spayed or neutered, as well as other miscellaneous surgeries necessary to make a pet more adoptable. Surgery is done at least twice a week and over 5,000 spays or neuters have been completed at the Center in the last 2 ½ years. Here at the Center, all animals are treated with love, care, and compassion until they find their forever homes. Field Services is comprised of 3 full time and 3 part time staff members including: Officers, dispatch, and animal license canvasser. Pictured from left to right - Laura, Cynda, Jesse, & Heather T. | Animal Handlers Just as medical personnel assess the health of Center pets and address health problems that prevent pets from being adopted, Animal Handlers assess the temperament of Center pets and address any temperament or training issues that may prevent a pet from being adopted. Beginning with temperament evaluations to identify any specific socialization or behavioral rehabilitation needed, Animal Handlers also work with staff and rescues to help place pets in suitable homes and choose pets for outreach, community events and special programs. They also are involved in promoting our rescue and outreach programs. Other duties include monitor animal behavior, engage in animal coaching, exercise programs, assist in transporting animals, monitor animal disposition and well-being. Pictured from left to right - Taun & Penni | Outreach Technicians We have 3 part time Outreach technicians that work at various Petsmart locations where they showcase our cats, dogs, and rabbits to promote adoptions for the Center, enabling us to find more forever homes. The Outreach technicians also provide valuable educational materials to the public about the importance of spaying/neutering, good pet ownership, licensing, crate training, dog training, etc. No Picture: Amanda, Jacqueline, and Ruth | |
