Awards
The City of Rancho Cucamonga's Purchasing Division is extremely proud to be a recipient of the Achievement of Excellence in Procurement (AEP) Award for the second consecutive year. The AEP is awarded by the National Purchasing Institute (NPI). The program is designed to measure innovation, professionalism, e-procurement, productivity, and leadership attributes of the procurement function based on standardized criteria. The City's Purchasing Division has strived to meet this criteria by implementing processes and procedures that are constantly evaluated and improved upon. It is the goal of the City's Purchasing Division to follow the path of continuous improvement, thereby, increasing the overall value of the department.
Professional Certification
Seventy-five percent of The City of Rancho Cucamonga's Purchasing Division buying staff holds professional certifications from two highly regarded public purchasing organizations, the Institute of Supply Management (ISM), which offers the Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M) designation and the Universal Public Purchasing Certification Council (UPPCC), which offers the Certified Public Purchasing Officer (CPPO) and the Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB) designations. Currently, the Purchasing Manager has earned the C.P.M. and CPPO certifications. The Senior Buyer and Buyer II have earned CPPB certifications.
Professional certification within public purchasing reflects established standards, competencies, and attests to the Buyer's ability to obtain maximum value for the taxpayer’s dollar. Certifications exemplify a specific level of education, experience, and demonstrates a commitment to the profession and ethical procurement practices. Therefore, having certified buyers leads to increased cost savings and value added service for the City of Rancho Cucamonga.
