Benefit Assessment Districts What is a Benefit Assessment District?
The Benefit Assessment Act of 1982 allows public agencies to finance the ongoing maintenance and operation of public drainage, flood control and street lighting systems by applying special assessments to the properties receiving the special benefit. Bonds can not be sold for Benefit Assessment Act of 1982 districts.
Benefit Assessment District 91-2 (Benefit Assessment Act of 1982) is generally bordered on the West by Tracts 15982 and 15982-1 (Stoneview Road), on the South by Wilson Avenue, on the East by Etiwanda Avenue and on the North by a Southern California Edison easement and is also located within the boundaries of the Day Canyon Drainage area. The district was formed for the protection of the properties with the construction of a 27+ acre-foot desilting basin and a 1,460+linear foot concrete drainage channel. These facilities intercept the overland flows prior to reaching the properties and carry the storm water runoff, sediment, trash, organic material and related debris to the desilting basin. The special taxes are used for the annual maintenance of these basins. The special tax for each property in the district is $92.17 per single-family residence. There is no increase to this special tax and it is on-going.
